I remember sitting on a porch swing set out by a small lake in Caledonia when I was around 15. My family had many friends with little boat-houses and I would get SO excited when they would invite us out for the day or the weekend. “They’re Out on the Lake,” was inspired by one of these days, sitting on the swing, responding to my brother yelling over to me from the shore, “Where’d mom and dad go?!”
